About the Position

To provide effective CAD support to the Technical Excellence Academy and the Southern Region as a whole, and to administer and maintain the physical and electronic Archive of Plans/Drawings of the Technical Excellence Academy and the Southern Region as a whole, in a systematic, efficient and sustainable manner.

Academic Qualifications and Key Role Requirements:

 National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

 Occupational Certificate NQF 5: Computer Aided Draughting or Trade Certificate NQF 4

 Three (3) Years Industry related experience.

The candidate must demonstrate a basic knowledge of the current major roads industry drawing standards, specifications and electronic data legislation; as well as be able to practically demonstrate current skills/competency levels achieved;

Be able to demonstrate attention to processes, detail, and production of industry standard drawings/documents; be able to work in a systematic and dynamic manner and demonstrate problem solving skills; exhibit sound and accurate judgment and work well under pressure in a team environment;

Demonstration of document archiving experience (electronic and physical media) will be an added advantage.

Provide effective CAD support to the Technical Excellence Academy and the entire Southern Region.

 Receive and prepare survey CAD files for specific project drawing production.

 Receive civil engineering designs from colleagues and embellish / annotate / accentuate to the applicable standards, followed by plotting to required scale.

 Maintain working (hard) copies for all Projects for future reference. Evidence of the record of electronic files received.

 Evidence of the production of industry standard Plans/Drawings within reasonably prescribed Project time frames.

 Evidence of the safekeeping of the working Plans/Drawings.

 Maintenance of the Plan/Drawing Plotter and associated pre-referral equipment.

 Liaison with the Supply Chain Management and the maintenance Service Provider to ensure zero downtime.

 Evidence of the records of liaison meetings.

 Evidence of the minimising of production downtime.

 The maintenance of the physical and electronic Archive of Plans/Drawings of the Technical Excellence Academy and the Southern Region as a whole.

 Continually update and maintain the physical and electronic Archives.

 Withdraw and return physical Plans/Drawings for use by Colleagues.

 Electronically scan older Plans/Drawings during times of lower CAD demand.

 Evidence of the update records in a prescribed format.

Evidence of the record of withdrawal and return of Plans/Drawings.

 Evidence of the progression towards electronic archiving of older Plans/Drawings.

 The maintenance of the Archive of Plans/Drawings electronic & physical registry systems, of the Technical Excellence Academy and the Southern Region as a whole.

 Continually update the physical and electronic Registers.

 Evidence of the electronic and physical registers.
