Sales and Marketing Exec with Ships Agency experience

A Ships Agency in Cape Town requires the services of a Sales and Marketing with Ships Agency experience.

Skills:
Will look at candidates that may not have worked directly for a shipping line however candidates must have dealt with a shipping line and have a very good knowledge of import/ export customers in Cape Town
Matric + 5 years extensive ships agency experience in all trades
Shipping, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing training courses (tertiary qualification advantageous)
Computer literacy – MS Office, Power point, Excel
Knowledge of customers, market share and interpersonal skills (written and verbal communication skills)


Duties:
Arrange Min of 16 appointments with customers a week and call on existing clients as well.
Discuss trade routes with customers – Far East, West Africa, Middle East and India for imports and exports
Weekly call plan submitted by lunch time and report on customers visited for the week and feedback by 10h00on Monday for clients to be visited for the week

Maintain existing business and vigorously develop new customers – imports and exports
Sending quotations to customers – imports and exports must be done in writing and filed in customer file and reposnd to emails within 24 hours
Follow up on holding messages to principals and attending marketing meetings with customers/management
Import customer stats, monthly marketing report to be submitted by the 5th of each month and report on import listings & export listings
comparisons to previous month
Report back on competition on this trade and on target and tender accounts, i.e. volumes YTD and rate negotiations for imports and exports for the various trade areas that is serviced and follow up on quotes
Import RFA’s for all customers and survey reports as needed for new trades
Updating customer codes – for import customers
Entertain customers after hours or during weekends
Follow up on sales leads from Port of Load and contacting customers and reverting with rates and updating of RFA’s
Following up on sales leads locally from freight forwarders, shippers and exporters
Assist with conference preparation.
Follow up on telesales reports daily and on outstanding monies – demurrage, short payments from import and export customers
Assist Marketing team when staff are on leave or sick leave, filing and prepare/compile the weekly report every Friday and offer customers excellent service levels
