Planning Forester

A leading Forestry company is looking for a Planning Forester to join their team based in KZN Midlands.
Co-ordinate the updating of growing stock data. This includes the update of maps, including adding of GPS data where necessary, and any other data such as soils or climate. Develop standards for updating such data and standards for road, conservation and fire plans

Oversee plantation valuations, insurance renewals & quotes. Co-ordinate plantation insurance claims & salvage.

Act as head office building manager.

Deal with land issues, including water licences, planting permits and municipal rates & land claims, in conjunction with the Co-op.

Assist foresters with requests pertaining to FSC certification, such as aerial photos and maps.

Complete feasibility studies for potential management schemes.

Submission of plantation information to FES (annually)

Co-ordinate the standardisation of fire, conservation and road plans for TF. This includes the setting of a minimum standard.

Co-ordinate strategic harvesting plans, especially for the sustainable farms. Also assist with strategic road and depot plans resulting from the harvesting plan. This should be done according to a set standard.

Valuation of standing timber to buy

Develop the plantation valuation model.

Liaise with the Green Policy Committee







Relevant qualificatin in Forestry

Proven track record in Planning, Strategic planning etc - at least 5 years in a Planning Role within a Forestry environment
