Merchandiser/Senior Merchandiser

If you have five years’ experience in merchandising (preferably garments) this is the role for you.
Reporting to the Operations Director (very strong garment industry Merchandising and Operations background), this rapidly expanding and very energetic Ecommerce retailer seeks an experienced merchandiser who is used to working to a high level of detail to join its fast-growing family.

The job will suit someone who has minimum five years’ experience as a merchandiser or senior merchandiser in an industry such as garments / clothing.

The product categories are a mix of fashion and functional accessories sold on ecommerce platforms both in South Africa and internationally.

A brief description of the role / person we seek is as follows:
Internally it’s a cross functional role, being involved with Product Development, Sales, Administration and Warehousing.
Externally dealing with overseas and local suppliers across a cross section of product categories including fashion accessories.
There’s involvement and responsibility for:
Managing the sampling purchasing through to delivery of our many new products, once the PD team has completed the selection process.
Liaison with and managing our whole supply base (mostly international).
The company has a WOW (Way of Working) document. Be the company custodian of working with our suppliers so that they follow our WOW.

Bulk Order purchasing and management of all aspects of the Critical Path / Time and Action calendar for all products. This includes:
Preparing POs/receiving and confirming the accuracy of Pro Forma Invoice through to the liaison with factories to a successful completion of production.
This liaison will be in respect of our international Quality team plus sea freight and air freight forwarders.
Quality – supporting the Ops Director / PD team in preparing the Quality Checklist and agreeing the required Quality inspection levels of the new products.
Other core skills of the person we seek will be:
Dynamic individual
An excellent communicator – advanced in written and spoken English
Detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks at one time
Very good self time management
Very competent in microsoft office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
Strong in managing timelines/critical path
Administratively – always on top of all aspects of the tasks in hand
Five years' experience in merchandising ideally in a garment industry role
Works well with others, be highly motivated to meet and overcome challenges
Very good working under pressure
Can demonstrate an ability to work independently, whilst showing a lot of initiative
