Responsibilities
KEY ROLE:
We are seeking an individual who can join the team and be responsible for preparing technical drawings of HVAC and piped services installations/ systems. During the drawing process, they will analyse information (such as measurements and sketches) provided by engineers, architects and other members of a project’s professional team. The BIM technician needs to apply their knowledge of design and engineering to illustrate visual instructions that relate technical specifications, including dimensions, arrangements and installation procedures. These drawings will then be used for tendering and construction purposes. Attention to detail and the ability to perform and understand multi service co-ordination is critical.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
— BIM modelling for mechanical engineering services using Revit software as well as AutoCAD for drawing linkage, clean-up and legacy work.
— Follow BIM standards and development procedures
— Adhere to BIM execution plan and BIM project workflow
— Collaborate and Coordinate with other disciplines design-changes and model challenges (internally and externally).
— Prepare BIM models for coordination meetings
— Ensure designs and drawings adhere to deadlines. Willingness to work extra hours above normal hours to ensure deadlines are met.
— Site meetings during construction with engineers and contractors for the updating of designs and models.
— Present new technologies which align and add benefit to the overall company BIM strategy

— May take lead on developing some discipline specific BIM modelling content for a project
— Manipulate/translate various digital file formats in order to create useable CAD/Revit drawings
— Working with client FTP sites to download CAD drawings and Revit models together with project deliverable uploads
— Work with a team of engineers on multi-disciplinary engineering projects
— Work closely with Project Manager and Lead Revit/CAD specialist to review and meet project goals
— Acquiring models and information from suppliers and ensuring the 3D components comply with the technical engineering specifications.
— Obtain information of a more general nature from suppliers and perform introductory engineering tasks and obtaining quotations.
— Some site visits and investigation may be required.
— Compliance with WSP’s project delivery processes.
— Innovation for BIM purposes and internal operational developments (indication of innovative ideas that is submitted with CV would be advantageous).

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
— Grade 12
— Minimum 2 years’ production experience working in a CAD office on Revit and AutoCAD
— Must have an in-depth working knowledge of current BIM versions with emphasis on project setup, multi-discipline coordination and collaboration
— Experience in drafting of HVAC services and piped systems.
— Autodesk Revit Mechanical Professional certification (advantageous)

— Understanding of basic drawing setup modelling technique and general knowledge of drafting standards
— Ability to quickly absorb and utilise company-specific techniques, standards and procedures
— Must have good working knowledge of Autodesk Revit
— Working knowledge of other Autodesk software which forms part of the design process workflow an advantage e.g. BIM360 Glue, AutoCAD P&ID;, Autodesk, Navisworks etc.
— Excellent oral and written communication skills essential for team-based working
— Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
— Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
— Enthusiasm and drive to research current trending BIM technologies and workflows etc. as well as provide insight on developing future technologies within the BIM environment.
— Must have good follow through and self-implemented Quality Control measures
— Committed to delivering an excellent level of service to the design team and an eye for detail.
