Permanent management level position at South African Sugar Association in the Agriculture industry.

The South African Sugar Association (SASA) has an employment opportunity in its’ Procurement department which is part of the Finance division.
The overall purpose of this role is to provide SASA with a professional procurement service, which secures purchased goods and services at optimum value and through appropriate contractual control. The Procurement Manager will also support other management initiatives in areas such as efficiency improvements, wastage control, process improvement and planning.
The position is based in Mount Edgecombe and reports to the Finance Manager.
This position is responsible for the leadership and management of the procurement and supply function through:

Implementing and managing agreed company procurement policies, procedures and business strategies.
Developing and managing a sound and cost effective supply base.
Conducting all procurement with the appropriate skill and integrity.

Maintaining the procurement performance measurement systems for cost, supplier and category performance to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Ensuring purchase requirements for service delivery, goods and services are timeously and consistently available to offer high levels of customer service
Conducting negotiations in a professional manner.
Assessing, managing and mitigating risks.
Monitoring and forecasting upcoming levels of demand.
Identifying training needs of self and direct reports in order to ensure increased stakeholder value.

Applicants keen on being considered need to have:

A recognized Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management together with 3yrs years relevant and hands on experience in procurement.
The ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures as well as recommending process improvements to current procurement policies and procedures.
Excellent good verbal communication skill coupled with proven above average business writing skills.
A demonstrated track record of being able to effectively lead, coach and develop a team.
Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions.
Good administrative skills
Computer literacy (a sound working knowledge of Ms Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

plan, schedule, assign and supervise the work of buying staff
consolidate procurement of materials and supplies for various departments and projects
establish and maintain continuous market investigation, adequate supply sources and proper vendor relations
negotiate contractual conditions and pricing with suppliers
prepare bid specifications, contracts and leases
plan and establish procedures and controls to conform with applicable laws and regulations and good purchasing techniques
review buyer workloads and reassign responsibilities as required

Experience
A demonstrated track record of being able to effectively lead, coach and develop a team.
