A position has become available for a Laboratory Coordinator to join our dynamic team.

PURPOSE:

Provide reliable results of analysis in time and direct the overall operation of the lab through analysis of key performance indicators
Manage the day to day operations of the lab technicians
Duties & Responsibilities
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage team of technicians
Respect the operating budget
Coordinate Ring testing
Coordinate RM and finished product control programs
Coordinate the equipment maintenance and calibration

Responsible for lab supplies
Organize and train lab technicians
Responsible for chemical waste management
Responsible for maintaining a safe environment
Control of chemicals
Responsible for performing analysis
Assist the QFS manager with ISO documentation
Communicate with regional/central lab and external lab
Coordinate the shipment of samples (internal/external)
Service internal and external clients
Responsible for retention samples
Job Content:

SAFETY

All PPE must be worn in compliance with the Legal/RC requirements
Enforce/Respect the safety rules and the internal policy
Stop any equipment / operative works / external company works if safety/environment protection/fire protection rules are broken
Guarantee and apply OHSAS 18001 and all related working procedures
ENVIRONMENT

Guarantee and apply ISO 14001 (Environment), and all related working procedures
Ownership of environmental responsibilities
QUALITY & FOODSAFETY

Guarantee and apply ISO 9001, 22000, Mars Standards, and all related working procedures
Support the HACCP program in the department
Lead GLP-GHP in the area, 5S
Inform shift leader of quality deviations according to product standards and production procedures
Perform the oPRP’s procedure according to SOPs
Validate all analysis results
Report any pest activity to related Manager
Responsible for auto control analysis
Any task as delegated by Manager
HUMAN RESOURCES

Training: attend any training program as scheduled by company management and train any designed person in the position
MANAGEMENT & RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to day co-ordination of the laboratory in line with global standards and monitoring regimes, while respecting the laboratory budget
Ensure conformance to all legal and legislative requirements
Manage the metrology of equipment in the laboratory and quality control equipment in the Extrusion room
Coordinate inventory and order supplies for the laboratory
Coordinate Ring Test participation and performance
Collection, preparation, coordination, and dispatching of samples to required RC laboratories and external laboratories for relevant analysis
Utilize laboratory computer software to provide all sample results to various departments
Liaise with Quality & Food Safety Manager and Raw Material Quality Manager to ensure good communication and relationships with raw material suppliers
Support continuous improvement of the laboratory and all related activities
Develop and improve all internal interdepartmental relations and external stakeholders
Updating management on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
Manage continuous improvement in the laboratory
Coordinate area-related equipment maintenance
As required, guarantee quality tests on incoming raw materials as specified in reception procedur
Quality control procedures (perform and record)
Sampling of products to ensure quality control
CLEANLINESS & TIDINESS

Ensure proper housekeeping is done on a daily basis in the lab and sample rooms
Perform 5 S audits
COMMUNICATION & INFORMATION

Provide any requested documentation to other Departments according to internal rules
Communicate to all departments about rejected RM’s or RM’s placed on QA Hold
Update KPI’s
Desired Experience & Qualification
Background Experience & Qualifications

National Diploma in food Technology/Science, chemistry, laboratory, or similar fields is mandatory
3 years previous experience in a food / feed plant laboratory preferred
Experience in HPLC, GC is preferred
Good communication skills to liaise internally and externally, as well as to assist in motivating, training, and improving the lab team
Technically inclined with computer skills
self-motivated, initiative, team player, odor sensitive and texture perception, depth perception, safety & hygiene & quality conscious
English speaking
