To cost effectively co-ordinate origin forwarding, shipping, clearing and delivery of all international imports in accordance with organisational policy and procedure, and comply with relevant local and international laws and processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Systems, processes & Technical competencies:

Thorough knowledge of delivery process.
Thorough knowledge of Customs & Excise documentation.
Thorough knowledge of Harmonised Customs Tariff classifications.
Thorough knowledge of suppliers’ document layout (invoice, packing list).
Thorough knowledge of Incoterms.
Knowledge of warehousing processes: receipt & dispatch.
Knowledge of EDI to Customs (Compu Clear or similar).
Knowledge of port and shipping line procedures.
Knowledge of the Customs & Excise regulations.
Knowledge of VAT requirements.

Knowledge of Duty Credit Certificate procedures.
Computer literate and ability to analyse figures and information.
Finance and or Business:

Ability to analyse and interpret financial and performance indicators at a detailed level.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the business measures and targets relating to own role.

Have an understanding of relevant legislation.
Customer & Environment:

Ability to quickly develop a knowledge and understanding of the suppliers, customer and service provider business and demonstrates a passion for customer delivery.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

What theoretical knowledge (e.g. degree / diploma) does the job require?

International trade or shipping course / diploma or Supply Chain Management certificate / diploma.
Understanding of related technical terms, processes and procedures pertaining to International Supply Chain.
Advanced skills in Excel and Customs clearance system.
What experience (e.g. previous exposure) does the job require?

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Import Supply Chain, forwarding, shipping and clearing environment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Prepare feasibility studies and quotations accurately for potential new imports.
Validate and sign-off import documents against purchase orders in Trade Stream system.
Track shipping documents against critical path measures.
Co-ordinate missing import documentation with Buying departments and international suppliers.
Manage all import documents from suppliers, ensuring compliance to company policy, local country and international laws and procedures.
Prepare and submit relevant Import documentation to Finance for establishment of Letter of Credits and for payment as per payment terms.
Prepare and edit Customs clearances for all Import shipments in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements.
Arrange all inspections as per legislative requirements (Custom Stops, Anti-Smuggling, SABS, etc.)
Prepare Ad Valorem Wharfage documents for submission to National Ports Authority (NPA).
Apply for Import permits as appropriate.
Prepare delivery documents for Forwarding/Clearing agent/Warehouse & Shipping Lines to effect collection and delivery of shipments.
Signoff all service providers invoices for payment in accordance with rate agreements and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Submit all Import documents to Woolworths Finance as per SLA.
Communicate with Import-related authorities, customers and suppliers in all relevant territories and countries, as necessary to ensure efficient, positive and lawful relations, support and activities.
Investigate and process relevant import claims.
Ensure PO, Shipment data and all events as per critical path is updated timeously in import system.
Consolidate data from import systems and publish to buying departments and customers.
Meet regularly with customers to provide guidance and information on all import related matters.
Adhere to corporate governance principles.
