General Assistant
Job Design: General Assistant (Onsite Assistant)
Purpose of the Job
Assist the qualified Electricians with installations, maintenance and repairs to electrical systems in multiple environments.
Assist the ATG Specialists with ATG maintenance, installations and calibrations.
Assist the workshop manager with general workshop tasks.
Assist the qualified Verification Officers with liquid fuel dispenser calibrations and general field pump maintenance.
Assist the Maintenance Technician with performing multiple repair and maintenance tasks, which could include, but is not limited to: carpentry work; electrical; plumbing; painting; HVAC; flooring; outdoor landscaping; general facility repairs.
Additional Tasks
Assist with pump maintenance if needed.
Assist with Automation calls when needed.
Assist the Civils Teams when needed.
Assist with Calibrations and Preventative Maintenance when needed.
Roles & Responsibilities
Reconcile all LFD mechanical components [e.g. Nozzles, motors, pumping units & meters]
Repair, build & prepare LFDโs for site operation
Ensure LFDโs despatched from the workshop conforms to SANS 1020, SANAS 10378 and the Metrology Act of 1973
Assist Field staff and workshop with projects & day to day operations
Check & test faulty components returned by Field staff
Build and/or repair forecourt & POS equipment.
HSSE Compliance
Fully understand and comply with HSSE requirements
Comply with PPE requirements
Comply with housekeeping standards and requirements
Handle hand tools and equipment with proficiency and care
Tools
Record will be held of the tools issued and a stocktake will be done every two weeks.
Inspection of power tools and safety equipment utilised in the workshop.
Reporting defective and/or broken hand tools, power tools and safety equipment.

Reports directly to the Service Manager. Will work under team leaders.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
a. Ability to reach and to lift materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
b. Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for an eight (8) hour work shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn, climb stairs and on trucks. Ability to perform repetitious arm and wrist movements.
c. Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
d. On occasion able to work other shifts and overtime.
e. Ability to learn new tasks and procedures.
f. Ability to move furniture and equipment.
