The Faculty of Life Science and Education, University of South Wales, invites applications for the following Masters by Research programmes commencing in October 2023. The faculty provides a vibrant research culture with our three Research and Innovation Groups and aligned with the University strategic accelerator areas of Sustainable Environment, Crime, Security and Justice, Health and Wellbeing and Creative Industries. These scholarships are aligned to our Health, Care and Wellbeing Research and Innovation Group.

Project details

Four funded Masters by Research scholarships are being offered (listed below). For the right candidates there may be an opportunity to continue onto PhD studies (subject to funding being available). Please contact individual supervisors to arrange an informal discussion or to find out more about individual projects.
β€’ Social Prescribing and Learning Disabilities

Examination of existing outcome measures in social prescribing for individuals with learning disabilities and the experiences and perceptions of this population and the people who work with them.

β€’ Building Voices and engagement: Racialised Family/Relative Carers' Perspectives for Post-Pandemic Recovery (Wales).

Exploring perspectives of living through the pandemic from family/relative carers of people with learning disabilities from racialised backgrounds to enhance inclusive post-pandemic recovery in Wales.

β€’ FRAIT (Family Resilience Assessment Instrument and Tool)

This project will use a realist approach to understanding stakeholder experiences of family resilience and the FRAIT in Wales. It will ask for whom does the FRAIT work?

β€’ Towards healthy intimate and family relationships: 'what matters' and well-being amongst cared-for adults and carers

This project will explore how cared-for adults and unpaid carers experience and achieve well-being in their intimate partner and family relationships, including how they are supported and informed with the skills and confidence to make positive decisions and achieve well-being within their relationships.

Scholarship details

Each scholarship will include a bursary of Β£18,622 per annum for one year and fees (at the UK Home student rate) plus expenses for research costs.

Eligibility

Applicants are invited from UK (Home) students with an upper second-class honours degree in an appropriate subject and / or a relevant master's degree.
