Nedbank Group’s Enterprise Governance and Compliance’ Group Exchange Control Management team seeks to employ an Exchange Control consultant to be based in Cape Town. The incumbent will be required to ensure that an Exchange Control Advisory and consultation service is provided to stakeholders that complies with the Exchange Control Rules; Regulations and directives as set by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
Job Responsibilities
Meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) by responding timeously and as per various Service Level Agreements with stakeholders to telephonic and written requests/queries forwarded to the department.
Provide interpretation of the Exchange Control Rules, Regulations, Directives and Research.
Ensure foreign exchange transactions are accurately concluded for Nedbank clients through obtaining South African Reserve Bank (SARB) approvals.
Provide Exchange Control advice to internal and external clients. Formulating, shaping and implementing Group policy according to regulatory and stakeholder requirements including providing advice, guidance where Section 52 applications are concerned.
Ensure the mitigation of the risks of Nedbank’s non-compliance to the SARB’s regulatory and supervisory requirements.
Approve Exchange Control applications requests within the parameters of the authorities as determined by SARB and prescribed in the Currency and Exchanges Manual for Authorised Dealers, including following up on outstanding issues where necessary.
Submit call reports and meeting confirmations and prepare applications where required.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with industry players and stakeholders, including SARB and Financial Services Board.
Ensure full awareness and provide relevant training and advice on SARB’s regulatory across Nedbank and the Rest of Africa subsidiaries.
Submit applications where necessary including Nedbank Group subsidiaries applications to the SARB.
Provide Exchange Control advice and input for new product development initiatives.
Act as Subject Matter Expert (“SME) where Exchange Control training is concerned for both internal and external stakeholders including Nedbank’s subsidiaries within the Rest of Africa.
Ensure that all revenue is correctly recovered in terms of the current pricing index.
Relieve other consultants when out of office.
Process and ensure SARB’s queries/reports are managed and responded to timeously.
Ensure that PaperTrail is managed as per stipulated requirements, i.e. indexing, diarising etc.
Report suspicious and possible fraudulent requests.
Attend to any other matters and projects as and when requested by management.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
