Accounting Officer

Our client requires the service of an Accounting Officer who will be responsible for all facets of operation to ensure efficient and profitable production by measuring and managing agricultural operation

Key performance areas:

Analysing payment to creditors and matching to statements.
Weekly/Monthly/Annual summary of expenses
Overall budget and cost controls
Recoup income for products sold on company’s behalf
Month end financial duties
Communicate deals with producer and Divisional/Regional Manager so that the business can benefit
Maintain Stock recon in real time
Stock recon reasonability tests: units & mass
Follow up and investigate validity of claims
Analyse data, identify trends, interpret output from reports and make recommendations

Improve efficiency by creating Operational Dashboard
Investigate means to improve business and make more efficient
Coordinate strategic plans and ensure properly executed
Viability and feasibility studies for new projects
Ad-hoc projects to identify ongoing cost savings
Cost-benefit analysis
Measure performance against industry benchmarks
Analyse trends in industry
Precision monitoring
The successful candidate must have:

Matric with a B.Com degree in Management Accounting/Management Science or B.Sc Agric with a Financial degree
Project Management experience would be advantageous
2 - 3 years previous work experience required
2 Years’ experience in an operation /agricultural position or animal/feedlot operations.
Must be computer literate (MS Office)
SAP & AccPac experience would be advantageous
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Excellent problem solving abilities
Analytical thinking abilities
Must be able to take initiative and make calls that will benefit the business
Quick decision making and able to operate under pressure
Take responsibility for actions and follow through to ensure they are executed correctly
Must be able to have forward thinking mindset and see big picture but not lose sight of detail
Embraces and supports change
Must be willing to travel on ad hoc basis
