Digby Wells Environmental, a service provider to the resources industry, is looking for Rehabilitation Intern.
This individual will be responsible for providing assistance with formulating rehabilitation plans and strategies, conducting field research and contributing to the growth of the Rehabilitation Unit.
The successful candidate will have a BSc degree in Ecology or Natural Sciences (or similar) with approximately 1 -2 yearsβ experience.
Requirements include:
Assisting with the compilation of rehabilitation plans and financial provision estimates;
A good understanding of soil science and how soils relate to rehabilitation;
Knowledge related to plants and suitable plants for rehabilitation (especially grasses that can be utilised for rehabilitation);
Thorough understanding of different techniques that can be used for rehabilitation;
Basic background relating to wetland assessments and practical knowledge on the principles of wetland rehabilitation;
Understanding of practical methods of rehabilitation that are both feasible and cost effective;
Legal knowledge associated with rehabilitation;
Knowledge of potential shortcomings related to existing sites that have been rehabilitated and how to address these shortcomings;
Knowledge of monitoring protocols that can be implemented post rehabilitation to monitor the success of rehabilitation;
Good verbal and writing skills;
Strong knowledge of the mining industry; and
French and Spanish Language skills would be beneficial.
