Logistics Manager
Oricol Environmental Services are driven to turning waste in to a resource. We are currently recruiting a Logistics manager for our Gauteng region. We transport all kinds of waste from around Gauteng. We currently have 23 vehicles with 5 different vehicle types being used.
Main focus is
1) To ensure that all loads are completed within agreed booking time lines. Maximise productivity of the vehicles. Ensure maximum availability of vehicles
2)To effectively manage the vehicle maintenance to maximise productivity in the most cost effective way while the best possible human relationship is maintained with all subordinates, co-workers and clients
DAILY:
1. Check that all route sheets are completed in full
2. Ensure that the missed lift systems is followed:
b. Tell customers when these missed lifts will be completed
c. Capture missed lifts onto pre-agreed stats sheet
3. Ensure that drivers are briefed every day
4. Ensure that all staff wear PPE at all times
5. Drivers to leave depot by 7.15am latest.
6. All leave/ sick leave or other notes to be given to the admin department to be processed as and when received. Any employee off ill will complete a company sick form the day of their return. Monday and Friday will require an official doctors note( discretionary in extreme circumstances )
7. Ensure that the finance department receives all required documents before 09:30
8. Investigate incidents or accidents and ensure that corrective action is implemented and maintained
9. Ensure that all legislative requirements are met
10. Ensure that the trailers are used effectively
11. Only tip loads at pre-approved disposal sites
12. Ensure that all drivers are trained to deal with hazardous materials
WEEKLY:
1. Do random checks to ensure that safe disposals were disposed of at the appropriate landfills
2. Have a toolbox talk with drivers and assistants
3. Check that vehicle service schedule:
a. Ensure that vehicles that have to be serviced are booked for service
b. Ensure that the fleet controller knows when the vehicles are going for service
c. Ensure that all vehicles are serviced within the appropriate time line
4. Ensure that all vehicles are washed weekly
MONTHLY:
1. Ensure that wages are done as required
2. All Skips and Rolons must load bins in the afternoon before they part for the next day.
3. Must ensure that appropriate stock of bins is available at all times.
4. Ensure that vehicles are routed as productively as possible
5. Check actual results against budget โ understand and report any problems
6. Check asset stats to ensure that vehicles and equipment is being used productively
7. Ensure that all salary details are done as required
8. Have monthly meetings with major customers
9. Have monthly meetings with major suppliers
10. Analyze customer satisfaction:
a. Customer complaints system
b. Customer surveys
c. Monthly client meetings
11. Order any equipment needed as and when required
12. Audit vehicles and equipment:
a. Check outstanding service items against the vehicle
b. Check service schedule
c. Check quality of work completed
Undertake all duties and tasks as prescribed from time to time by your Superior.
Report delays/breakdowns/road conditions or incidents to clients and or affected VES staff.
To check for any specific instructions that a customer may require.
No unauthorized person may use any equipment or vehicle
Ensure that all contractors follow the appropriate induction procedures.
Ensure that there is a full Audit trail for all loads collected and disposed
5 years Experience in fleet and maintenance control in a logistics environment
must understand the requirements of the transportation of dangerous goods.
Must be able to manage and communicate with people on all levels
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office) essential
