Introduction
Responsible for responding to 24/7 routine telephone calls to assist in resolve diverse enquiries and emergency telephone calls using Emergency Medical Dispatch triage procedures, managing the service request from the
beginning to successful completion. Assigns those calls to the appropriate despatcher while maintaining a professional, courteous demeanor. These calls must be held with the highest regard and EMS call center agent must
speak in a clear and concise manner in respect of inbound and outbound calls.

Specification
ο‚· Answers all incoming emergency and non-emergency Fire and EMS calls for service while collecting important information from the caller.
ο‚· Determines the caller’s needs and enters the information into the Computer aided dispatch system
ο‚· Notifies other service agencies for actions as required.
ο‚· Works with other departments to ensure mutual organizational goals are pursued and achieved
ο‚· Closes calls, updates logs on system and inter hospital transfers, patient care and record keeping
ο‚· Deals with difficult clients in difficult situations traumatic situations/incidents
ο‚· Speaks in an effective and efficient manner while maintaining a professional appearance and courteous demeanor with all internal and external customers to ensure a professional working environment
ο‚· Informs clients by explaining procedures, answering questions and
ο‚· Assists dispatchers as needed
ο‚· Upholds the Clinix Health Group’s high values and reputation within the medical community
ο‚· Takes corrective action on EMS outcomes and inputs
ο‚· Develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders.
ο‚· Ensures a positive experience for patients
ο‚· Determines eligibility of clients and compares client information in respect of the standard requirements
ο‚· All inbound and outbound calls are recorded and archived and are easily accessible and available
ο‚· All interactions on the system are date and time stamped
ο‚· Contributes to the effective dispatch processes (dispatches the nearest, most appropriate ambulance to the scene, escalations and costs are managed effectively
ο‚· Monitors trends, patterns where unnecessary expense can be reduced to maximize profits
ο‚· Reports communication equipment failures and required maintenance
ο‚· Supports, maintains and upholds established corporate and
departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement and safety standards
ο‚· Meets EMS call center performance standards, goals, metrics and outcomes for success
ο‚· Ensures up to date knowledge of the EMS function and requirements of the industry


Requirements
ο‚· Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent level of education essential.
ο‚· Previous EMS Call Center experience advantageous and ability to work on rotational shifts
ο‚· Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
ο‚· General Healthcare industry knowledge, Medical Scheme knowledge of benefits, processes and benefits advantageous
ο‚· Intermediate Life Support Practitioner
ο‚· Familiar with PC Technology aided dispatch processes
ο‚· Must type 32 wpm with good clear voice, ability to multi-task under pressure
ο‚· Good Communication skills, out of the box thinking, problem solving
ο‚· Must be able to make quick effective decisions
