Data Analyst

This person will be tasked with analyzing the current data requirements and ensuring that all the data sources are known. This involves also identify any external requirements. The aim is to make known all the information needed to effectively design, build or change the underlying data structures to support the business.

This person should have experience in different forms of data stores like excel, text files, access databases and others. Experience in the target technologies like the Oracle database will be an advantage.

To translate the Business Data Requirements for medium to large sized product/service systems into the Systems Data Specifications format and or model as prescribed by one of the banks IT methodologies, and to assure the quality of the implementation of these requirements at a system level.

Understand the Business Data Requirements in preparation for producing Systems Data Specifications and or models.

• Establish and Define System Data Specifications and Models by conducting Data Analysis tasks as prescribed by one of the banks IT methodologies.
• Coordinates the extraction of data, perform data cleanup/manipulation, upload and balancing of source data into the data storage facility.
• Participate in the development and support of interfaces between the sources and target systems.
• Communication and feedback on data sourcing activities.

• Conduct testing which assures the quality and integrity of the Data requirements.
• Conduct quality reviews of Data Analysis Artifacts/Deliverables.
• Provide leadership and guidance to other Analysis practitioners.
• Complete negotiations on task deliverables with task managers and produce signed off and agreed job cards for all deliverables.
• Support and/or conduct the integration and implementation of Systems Data Requirements.
• Provide input to/ Conduct System Data Solution estimations on behalf of Project Delivery.
• Provide Business Analysts and BCE representatives with IT System Data related input to Business Data Requirement Documents



Demonstrated Knowledge of and Experience in at least one of Absa’s IT methodologies.
• Knowledge of banks service offerings.
• Demonstrate in depth knowledge of and Experience in the process and systems related to Regulatory reporting and its Data Management requirements regarding the BASEL II accord
• Demonstrated in depth and functional knowledge of and Experience in the processes and systems related to at least one of banks Products.
• Analytical ability

• Good Written and Oral Communication skills





A minimum of 5 years Job Related Work Experience is essential.

• Proven knowledge of and experience in using at least one IT methodology.
• Proven knowledge of & experience in the relevant Systems Data Analysis tools & techniques.
• Demonstrated, specialist detail knowledge of and experience in at least one Business Area and its processes and systems.
