Assistant Distribution Accountant

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever SA operates its Warehousing out of a few major Distribution Centres and requires transport to distribute products to customer. And thus requires a good grip on processes and controls around these costs.

The Assistant Distribution Accountant will support the Logistics Accountant and Business Partners in the following areas: provide reporting analysis and financial expertise, as well as control processes and facilitating payments.


JOB SUMMARY

Raise POs for Logistics Suppliers
Attend to Accounts Payable and Receivable issues with 3 rd Party Service providers
Reconcile GL accounts

Month end close and recons VS Forecasts
Prepare the monthly damages and losses for all 3 rd parties
Monthly results pack commentary
Understand end-to-end process of the Transport Management system and ensure it runs effectively and efficiently for shipment costs to be accurately charged to the P & L
Cost efficiency – analyse service provider reports and quantify and review opportunities for cost savings / controls
Liaising with country teams and understanding all aspects of actual and forecasted distribution costs to assist Africa GTM Finance Manager in analysing cluster distribution costs
Raise monthly provisions and accruals
Business partnering on adhoc requests

KEY REQUIREMENTS

BCom Accounting Degree
Studying towards CIMA – advantageous
Advanced SAP & Excel knowledge
1 year of relevant experience, i.e. Business experience in a Supply Chain / FMCG environment
Critical attributes – analytical, attention to detail, confidence, ability to work independently, influencing and ability to interact with people of varying levels in an organization
