Programme Objectives

As a Learnership 18.2 Learner Miner, your role will focus on learning the essential skills needed for a mining career. You will be trained to perform mining tasks while following strict safety guidelines. The programme also includes completing various modules within a set timeframe and gaining practical work experience. You will have opportunities to demonstrate your progress and escalate any concerns regarding your training.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Learning and Development:
    • Complete all the required training modules within the specified time.
    • Gain hands-on experience in mining operations.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the tasks and objectives associated with your training.
  2. Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE):
    • Adhere to all safety and legal requirements on the job.
    • Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments.
    • Always wear the required safety gear and report any hazardous conditions to ensure a safe working environment.
  3. Reporting and Feedback:
    • Provide regular updates on your progress and development during the learnership.
    • Work closely with supervisors and managers to ensure successful completion of the programme.

Key Requirements

To apply for the Learnership Programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education:
    • 18.1 Learner Miner: Minimum of NQF Level 2 (Grade 10 or equivalent).
    • 18.2 Learner Miner: Minimum of NQF Level 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12).
  • Experience:
    • 18.1 Learner Miner: At least 24 months of experience in production (or a similar mining environment).
    • 18.2 Learner Miner: Previous experience in a relevant environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Attributes:
    • Be medically fit to work in mining environments.
    • Have a clear security screening record.
    • A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions (if applicable).

Additional Information

  • Candidates are encouraged to inform their managers if they are applying for the learnership.
  • The selection process may include pre-screening, psychometric evaluations, and interviews.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a panel interview.
