About the role

The successful candidate will be required to assist in various large VAT projects, with the focus being primarily on calculation-driven VAT solutions.

Essential skills and experience

A minimum of 2 years relevant experience - VAT/Tax advisory / Accounting experience

Required qualifications

A relevant professional qualification (BCom/BCom Honours)

Desirable skills or attributes

Good understanding and knowledge of the tax laws (focus on VAT and Tax
Administration Acts, Income Tax and Customs Act would be an advantage) and the application thereof to client problems;
Good business acumen and knowledge of various industries is advantageous;
Attention to detail;
Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel;
Good numerical skills;
Excellent analytical skills
Proficient research skills;
Excellent business writing skills;
Ability to prioritise and work under pressure;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent organisational and time management skills;
Customer focus driven;
Takes initiative on personal development.

Responsibilities

Take responsibility for a range of VAT assignments (perform calculation driven VAT processes) reporting to Managers and/or Partners.
Liaising with clients and colleagues to provide Tax Consulting advice.
Research on technical issues.
Handling ad-hoc tax issues, including advising on new tax legislation.
General administration - assisting with billings, debtors and assignment budgeting.
Compliance with risk management procedures.
