PURPOSE: • To perform certain duties that ensure improvement of equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs

Qualifications:

N Dip: Engineering ( Essential/Minimum or )
S4 Electrical Engineering ( Essential/Minimum )
B Tech Electrical Engineering ( Recommended/Desirable )
Certificate First Line Management ( Recommended/Desirable )

Experience:

3-5 Years Technical operations in a mining environment - Essential/Minimum - Operational

Requirements:

Certificate of Fitness ( Essential/Minimum )


Psychometric Assessment ( Essential/Minimum )



Position Tasks:


Best Practice and Knowledge Management


Initiate continuous improvement initiatives leading to cost saving opportunities
Liaise with other departments toward evaluating new technologies to improve process capabilities, product quality and throughput requirements
Conduct research, trend analyses, feasibility studies and benchmarking exercises

Compliance, Governance and Assurance

Develop/maintain/improve safe operational/engineering standards and continuously review specs/schedules
Ensure equipment integrity is maintained according to safety standards
Maintain MHSA and related systems, aligned with safety standards/occupational health/safety and environment registers/ISO 14000; 9000 and 18001 systems
Conduct timeous investigation of incidents and ensure adequate remedial action
Execute and drive safety programs
Ensure effective risk management by identifying hazardous activities and mitigation measures

Customer, Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management

Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met and employees are satisfied.

Equipment Operations and Control

Plan, implement and maintain electrical infrastructure reticulation and installations

Upkeep all PandID drawings, wiring diagrams and PLC programs
Plan, implement and maintain all automation systems/ installations/systems (if applicable)
Responsible for design development and maintenance of the following processes: PLC, Scada, ARCHESTRA software and PLC Communications networks
Ensure effective software control and security protocols on all networks
Develop/implement/maintain system to ensure maintenance of electrical, instrumentation drawings, diagrams and OandM manuals as well as RCS and PLC backup of all software
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Conduct HIRAs
Ensure safety comes first
Maintain and ensure a healthy environment and safe operations practices.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards • Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations.


Technical Support

Ensure effective delivery of service through high level maintenance and specialised tech support
Make recommendations to BU and line managers with regards to appropriate electrical engineering techniques
Conduct audits and inspections on installations, equipment and facilities
Conduct project- planning, co-ordination and implementation
Conduct preventative maintenance/RCM/trouble shooting/ root cause failure analysis
Ensure optimal equipment performance
Oversee cross-functional training and development of artisans and technicians
Provide timeous and accurate feedback to customers.
