The role is focused on leading a team of private bankers, in order to support the delivery of the National Banking strategy and the overall execution of Investecโ€™s value proposition to our clients. This role will also have personal Client Acquisition and Client Relationship target responsibilities.

Description Of Your Skill and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification
Experience in leading, strategically driving & managing a team preferable
Experience within Private Banking preferable

Strong Financial Skills - understanding financial statements
A strong love for and true ability to sell
Above-average negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals
Mitigating credit risk for the bank by being the โ€œfirst line of creditโ€
Awareness and management of compliance and regulatory frameworks in all dealings with clients
Presentation and communication ability
People skills with a passion for socializing and networking

The Result
Investec is looking for an individual who is commercially minded, and passionate about client service, in turn supporting Investecโ€™s business strategy through an out of the ordinary Private Banking offering. People Management:
Ensure effective people management via training, development, PDR and skills transfer.
Coaching and mentoring of all staff in the team.
Embed Investec culture and values into the team.
Identify future resourcing requirement and proactively initiate the sourcing of these staff
Integration of new staff
Participation in the annual salary and bonus process
Employee wellness and team wellbeing
Responsibility to drive Transformation
Manage team budgets
Manage and co-ordination of relationships with other niches

Sales Management:
Lending turnover (including fees)
Funding, treasury book growth
Forex income and other income management.
Client Acquisition growth
Client retention through cross-sell entrenchment
Developing corporate strategies to grow market share
Cell performances and detailed knowledge of performance of cells

Client Management:
Identify opportunities across all revenue streams, including for Banking and other areas of the business.
Presenting deals to credit, together with Consultants
Play an active role in lead generation for Consultants
Attend client functions
Build and promote the team brand within the Private Bank and Investec Group in order to leverage off the opportunities and relationships in these areas

Risk Management:
Understand risks associated with the Banking business and identify and implement processes to mitigate these
Deal implementation
Workflow processes
Credit risk, first line of defence
Awareness of management of compliance and regulatory framework within the team
Monthly management of residuals and arrears list
Initiation of plans to manage residuals and arrears

Client Acquisition and Relationship Responsibilities:
Selling to and networking within a specific Investec target market to grow the client base and generate new business
Sourcing new business through cold calling, networking and referrals
Meeting specified budget and targets per activity
Delivering a quality CRM service to existing clients
Presentation of products and services to clients
Providing financial advice to clients on:
- Lending products and Commercial Property Finance- Treasury products
Identifying business opportunities and successfully introducing leads to other areas of the business eg Private Capital, Wealth and Investments
CRM:
Updated radar client info
Ongoing assessment of client segmentation, appropriateness of consultant and team
Marketing events driven from individual team strategy
Manage and resolve escalated queries/complaints
Client interaction

Communication:
Active participation in leadership forums
Ensuring feedback to teams regarding business decisions and matters
