The problem

There are now more devices than people connecting to the Internet and in Africa this is often done with Prepaid SIMs. Businesses are struggling to manage multiple Prepaid SIMs, including those in M2M/IoT devices, manually.



The solution - What?

SIMcontrol is an easy to use, online SIM monitoring platform which automatically tops up business customers’ prepaid SIM cards for data, SMS or airtime. It uniquely operates on mobile networks prepaid platforms and is ideally suited to African mobile networks.



The solution – To Whom?

SIMcontrol is ideal for businesses who lack credit histories, are averse to long-term contracts or afraid of bill shock, SIM theft and related costs.

We build software for management of prepaid SIMs used in machine-to-machine and IOT device communication in Africa. "Africa" in this case means South Africa, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, but this list is ever-expanding. We build products that scale, perform well and deliver value to our customers.



We're looking for talented people to help us support our customers and 1st line support team on a deeper, technical level. Someone who like solving problems and coming up with answers. Someone who takes the initiative to automate something mundane or pitch into engineering efforts when needed. Someone who built lego without the manual as a kid.



What to expect?

We envisage the technical support specialists role to be wide and touch many aspects of our business.



** Somethings you could be doing on a daily basis:**



Writing a bigquery query for Finance
Trawling through billing events for a customer (we have lot of billing events)
Writing a python script to integrate into a new Telco API so we test our infrastructure
Setting up a new VPN
Writing alerting for our prometheus metrics on the Kubernetes cluster
Guiding a customer through integrating into our graphql api
Analysing why 20k recharges just failed on a certain telco
Maintain, monitor and optimise infrastructure and apps which are not in our core cluster.
Own / maintain integrations with partners / mobile operators (You are the API master)
Own / maintain the configurations for our self-service websites
Our tech stack is Django and Python and we do things with lots of concurrency. In the future contribute regularly to our code base. Engineering is a continuous process of learning and development, we would like to learn together. We are happy to guide and help the right person to integrate fully into our engineering teams. 2- 5 Years relevant working experience.

We dont care about your qualifications... Just show us you can get the job done.

But you need to know something about the following:

Unix/Linux
SQL
VPN
AWS/Google
Use clients like Postman / SOAPUI to test integration to an API
Networking (IPs, DNS, Routing etc.)
Software configuration
Experience level: 2-5 years
Medical (Hospital plan included in CTC)
21 Days leave
