Reports to General Manager : IT Security

The Security Specialist is responsible to monitor and oversee that the security of IT operations and supporting infrastructure is
effective and proportionate to SAPO’s business risk and compliance requirements. This includes but not limited to, Network

Summation Security, Patch and Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Security, Security Operations Centre and Security Incident Management.
The security specialist must also comprehensively address and report on the prevailing cyber security threats to the organisation.
Manage security services network security, endpoints security, systems (e.g. Email) and Applications security
Develop and implement security policies, processes and standards for all technologies in compliance with ISO27001 and
other cybersecurity best practices.
Ensure all services and technologies are properly configured for secure communications between the Intranet, DMZ, Internet
and security operations center
Review and assess all security services and technologies and apply/implement required necessary changes and patches to
comply with ISO 27001/2 standards and other cybersecurity best practices

Monitor functionality and support contracts for hardware, software and IOS regularly to minimise unnecessary downtime
Key Responsibilities β€’ Collaborate well with management and various cross functional teams in order to ensure timely delivery of solutions that drive
successful business outcomes

Mitigate and report all security issues, threats, risks and vulnerabilities
Document and publish weekly/monthly/quarterly security operations
Perform any other tasks assigned by IT security management
Ensure the efficient management, control, compliance and reporting of the function/resources in accordance with the
stipulations of the PFMA, BCEA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, legislation, Corporate governance,
Delegation of Powers, company policies, processes, regulations, etc.

Minimum Requirements:
β€’ Diploma/Degree in Information Technology (NQF Level 6/7)
Added Advantage: relevant security certificates such as Certified Checkpoint Security Associate (CCSA is essential), Cisco
Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Security. Security Industry relevant certifications, e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA,
CompTIA – Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), ISO27001 lead implementer

Minimum of 5 years’ experience, of which 3 years specialising in the Network Perimeter Security or Endpoint security
Knowledge:
β€’ Management of subordinates
Minimum β€’ Budget compilation and management
