Site Agent - Roads & Earthworks

This medium sized construction company based in Pretoria and working countrywide and involved with the construction and maintenance of roads and buildings is looking for a Site Agent.
Duties and responsibilities:

Control the overall performance and quality of sub-contractors by means of progress meetings and visual inspections.

Check that correct survey practice is employed for setting out or carry out himself if not being done by others.

Control material stock levels by means of programme requirements, material schedules, bin levels, etc.

Assist in drawing up a master programme on award and monitor by marking up and taking corrective action, where necessary

Pre-cost weekly programmes and compare to the value as per standard policy.

Prepare monthly cost reports with the assistance of others in the standard format.

The Site Agent must at the outset of a new project familiarise himself/herself with the contract document and commit to memory the more important clauses of the general and special conditions of the contract and the main parts of the specification.

Check that the work is being carried out in accordance with specifications through knowledge of the contract documents, visual checks, tests, etc.

Suggest plant required for the job to the Contracts Manager.

Ensure that maximum utilisation is obtained for all plant on site

Liaise with the plant supervisor to ensure that all plant is being properly maintained, that breakdowns are dealt with efficiently and timeously, and that plant hours are properly recorded.

Motivate and lead his staff by close personal contact and by own example

Check that administration work is being correctly carried out.

The Site Agent is the responsible person for Safety on site.

Responsible for seeing that all aspects of the site operation are carried out in accordance with the Company policy and sound contracting practice.

Knowledge, skills and Experience:

Minimum B-Tech or higher
Site management with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in road and services construction.
Client liaison.
Report writing.
Problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal skills
Scheduling and Programming of work
Ability to manage quality of Construction on site
Ability to deal with and manage Subcontractors
Extensive Technical Knowledge of Civil and building construction
Ability to manage cost on the site
Experience in health and safety on sites.
Payment Certificates.
Ability to complete projects in time.
Computer literate in MS Office and MS Projects
Good command of the English language
Salary package highly negotiable
