Operations Controller
An Investment Management Services House based in Bryanston, are seeking an Operations Controller to work with various teams and manage the day to day operations globally
The Operations Controller would manage the day to day operations of business in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Ireland, reporting directly into the Head of Operations. This will require working closely with the other members of the global investment, operations, sales, software development and support teams. Given the rapid rate of growth of the company, it is anticipated that the responsibilities of the role would expand rapidly.
Core
Designing, implementing and monitoring of all business processes, including ensuring the accurate implementation of investment mandates and client instruction via the financial advisers and onto the underlying platforms
Monitoring and instructing rebalances of investor accounts using the business' proprietary technology
Managing and overseeing the companyβs transaction monitoring processes and following up with the client support team regarding outstanding documents due from adviser partners
Monitoring service delivery metrics and escalating issues identified
Continuous improvement of processes using technology where required. All processes are within the organisation are built to be scalable with the minimum of human intervention
Minimising financial risk and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
Developing trusted relationships with platforms
Secondary
Develop and maintain expertise, skill and technical knowledge required to add valuable input across the business and investment proposition
Proactively cultivate relationships with platforms and advisers and be prepared to engage socially where beneficial
Minimum requirement: A postgraduate degree
Academic qualifications in the areas of accounting, business, engineering, investments, administration, law, or other sciences would be considered.
The candidateβs experience should indicate a history of successful achievement.
Prior experience which may be beneficial to this role:
An understanding of the financial services market, especially the asset management space.
Experience at an Asset Manager, Platform or Financial Advisory Firm
Management Consulting
Project Management
Given the unique characteristics of the operations within the business, the inherent intellect, attitude and capabilities of the candidate are more important than existing experience.
The following would be advantageous:
CA(SA) / CIMA (or in training)
CFA β Chartered Financial Analyst (or in training)
IMC β Investment Management Certificate (or in training)
CFP - Certified Financial Planner (or in training)
