Our client provides modern purpose built accommodation for students in tertiary education in South Africa. As the country’s leading developer, owner and manager of student accommodation. They are seeking a live in on site Handyman for their Claremont development.
Key Elements of the Role
Overview of the Role
The main purpose of the role is to complete Maintenance tasks as per Job Cards to the required standards and in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. To assist with lock outs in the event of eviction.
Responsibilities:
- General maintenance duties:
o Plumbing,
o Painting,
o Bricklaying,
o Tiling, and any other maintenance relating duties
- Hand in all completed job cards with times recorded for each job daily.
- Report all defects to the Residence Manager and Maintenance Manager.
- Complete the maintenance checklist after inspections.
- Repair minor electrical faults.

Collections duties
- Assist with the eviction process of students on instructions from the Duty and Residence Managers
Health and Safety
- Report all unsafe situations or equipment to Management.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and requirements in the workplace.

Skills and Attributes

- Good knowledge of electrical fixtures plumbing, fittings, painting and repairs and maintenance thereof.
- Knowledge of tools and materials used in the assigned area of responsibility.

- Ability to prioritise tasks. Qualifications

Minimum:
- Grade 12
- Previous Handyman experience
