Role: Marketing and Communications Manager

Department & Region: SPF: Sanlam Individual Life: Client Solutions
Reporting Line: Head: Client Solutions

Job Purpose:
This role forms part of the Sanlam Individual Life: Client Solutions & Marketing team and is responsible for developing and implementing the marketing and communication strategy for long-term Insurance. This includes assisting with the execution of the various marketing initiatives.

The role works closely with the intermediary support, segment and product development functions.

Output/Core Tasks:
Strategic marketing:

Develop and implement an annual marketing and communication strategy to deliver the Sanlam Individual Life business objectives
Translate business objectives and strategies into marketing plans that facilitate business unit growth
Vest and optimise differentiated insurance product value propositions with clients and intermediaries
Provide input into segment and product strategy
Conduct marketing competitor reviews, commission market research and analysis in partnership with the client insight team where required
Ensure measurement and evaluation of marketing activity and spend
Coordination and management of Client Engagement:

Take ownership of the development, production and execution of all through-the-line engagements
Ensure alignment to the SPF Marketing strategy
Ensure strategic alignment with brand and group marketing strategy and ensure necessary compliance.
Develop and implement, in collaboration with SPF Communication, an internal communication and employee engagement strategy for the business
Develop and implement, in collaboration with SPF Communication, a Media strategy for specific client segments
Develop promotional material including marketing collateral
Manage relationship with internal as well as external marketing stakeholders and suppliers
Intermediary Support:

Provide marketing support to the Intermediary support team
Manage and implement, in collaboration with the Channel and Segment Marketing team in Distribution, intermediary interventions such as events, support tools and intermediary communication

Budget and expense management
People management
Role Requirements:


Relevant 3 year Bachelor's Degree, eg. BCom Marketing Management, Public Relations, etc.

At least 5 years relevant Marketing and Communications Management experience
Insurance and/or Financial Industry experience
Experience in Fast moving consumer goods will be beneficial
Experience in brand management; campaign design and implementation
Digital marketing and social media practices
Proven ability to handle multiple campaigns and action various initiatives
Marketing analytics and return on Investment (ROI) measurements
A proven track record in developing, executing and administering a marketing program
A proven track record of executing various marketing and communication initiatives
