Lab Technician

A reputable company within the FMCG industry requires a Lab Technician who will be based in Durban. The main purpose of the role is to support R&D projects through the development process working with the wider R&D Team to ensure delivery of the projects in a timely manner.
Key Duties:
Co-ordination of shelf life testing
Weighing of recipes which includes, basic powder weighing, chemical weighing, 25kg to 100kg trial blends, QC Standards
Spray Drying
Maillard Reaction Flavours
Applications onto soft and hard extrudes, pellets, biscuits
Occasional cooking up of samples, eg: soups or soya mince
Labelling samples correctly according to letters or packing slips and providing packaging support for outgoing samples
Maintaining records of retention samples
Maintaining raw materials levels and the QC of incoming raw materials
Maintaining daily / monthly records for balances, thermometers, pH Meter, Hot Box and Cold Room temperatures and safety shower.

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Food Science or related discipline
1 years’ experience in R&D or food manufacturing placement sufficient
R&D knowledge
Computer literate
