Part-time position (2 days per week)

Responsibilities & duties

Attach endpapers to tops and bottoms of book bodies, using sewing machines.
Trim edges of books to size, using manual cutting machines.
Fold and sew printed paper to form signatures and books
Place bound books in presses that exert pressure on covers.
Package books to prepare them for shipment.
Work standard:

Training will be provided.
Quality control on books produced is regular and precise
Meeting targets is dependent on the quality of the work and not just the quantity produced.

Work experience & skills

No previous experience or qualifications are required. If you do have experience you feel is relevant, let us know.

Previous experience operating sewing machines will be an advantage.

The preferred candidate will need:

The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
The ability to see details at close range as often they are working on close range objects.
