An investment holding company with its shares listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (“JSE”). As a publicly listed investment holding company, the primary aim is to create and sustain long-term value as measured by consistent growth in net asset value, before distributions to shareholders.



Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for the origination, due diligence, execution (including structuring and capital raising) and monitoring of equity investments in line with the Company’s investment strategy.

The candidate will assume a lead role in the modeling and analysis of equity transactions and will be required to represent the Company in investee company boards. The Candidate will be an integral member of the investment team and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

The candidate will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the Company’s long-term investment strategy and be able to articulate that knowledge internally and externally.



Primary Responsibilities

Drive strong investment performance and the growth and development of the fund

Key responsibilities;

Identification of new investment opportunities in key strategic sectors in line with the company’s investment strategy
Supervise investment executive / principal tasked with performing desktop analysis of pipeline investment opportunities;
Lead various due diligence streams of target investment opportunities;
Project manage the preparation of discussion papers and transaction proposals for the company’s Investment Committee;
Lead and represent the company in the negotiation of transaction agreements for proposed investment opportunities;
Build relationships with fellow shareholders and management of portfolio companies;
Appointment to portfolio company boards and board sub-committees;
Supervise the preparation and review quarterly reports on portfolio companies and the portfolio;
Networking, liaising, and maintaining of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; and
Provide strategic direction to portfolio companies.
Key Skills:

Ability to conduct industry research, articulate opinions, and excellent report writing skills
Strong financial modeling skills
Strong commercial acumen and ability to source viable investments and suitable co-investment partnerships
Wide understanding of different markets and business models, and ability to judge the quality of investments
Qualifications and Experience:

The Candidate must demonstrate a proficiency in financial and accounting terms and techniques, economics and quantitative analysis, as well as having the required work experience.

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting is mandatory
Graduate business degree, Chartered Accountant (CA), and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or MBA designations a plus
Must have 8 - 12 years of experience investing in Private Equity or Investment Holding company;
Prior experience should include responsibilities for originating, negotiating, structuring, and monitoring of unlisted investments;
Significant experience performing complex financial analysis, modeling, company valuations, and comparable company analyses
