Minimum requirements for the role:
Tertiary qualification in Logistics or related is preferred but not essential.
Previous import and export administration experience working with various countries in Africa is essential.
Previous experience having worked in multiple facets of the logistics chain with specific expertise in all aspects of air, ocean and road freight is essential.
Clearing and forwarding knowledge is essential.
Previous shipping experience would be preferred.
International Trade or Shipping Course or Diploma is preferred but not essential.
Previous experience working on Pastel and SAP is preferred but not essential.
Must understand technical terms, processes and procedures pertaining to forwarding, shipping and clearing.
Previous experience having worked within the food or related industries would be preferred.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Obtaining updates from shipping lines, agents and suppliers in a timely manner.
Updating internal clients with ETA’s, cargo readiness, expected delivery dates and delays.
Liaising with various customs and governmental departments not limited to state vet, port health and chamber of commerce.
Working with different rates of exchanges and mathematical calculations.
Calculating costing of shipments and updating the financial system.
Managing multiple collections and deliveries and producing quick turnaround times.
