Situated at 10 Lagoon Drive, Umhlanga Rocks, Vivo Umhlanga is “Durban’s most luxurious restaurant offering modern cuisine and designer cocktails, combining sophistication and euphoria"
The restaurant hostess is the first person to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. It is the job of the hostess to greet arriving guests, welcome them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the hostess.


As the hostess, you must have complete knowledge of all food and beverage menus: the ingredients; the preparation; how items are served and with what; know your prices; know the daily specials. You will be responsible for assisting Restaurant Management with daily admin and operations.

Hostess will be responsible for greeting and welcoming prospective clients. Collect all pertinent information from the people and perform clerical duties as necessary. Help maintain the neat appearance of staff. We are looking for someone who is organized and customer-oriented with an excellent telephone manner. Must be able to work independently.
Maintains confidentiality, listens to others without interrupting, keeps emotions under control, remains open to others ideas and tries new things.
Ability to communicate complex concepts in clear, concise language to demonstrate active listening while engaging with others.
Able to clearly communicate strategies that align with business needs and objectives to gain buy-in from stakeholders.

Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, varies writing style to meet needs, presents numerical data effectively, able to read and interpret written information.

· Marketing experience / qualification is a MUST

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience required in fine dining or upscale restaurant.

· Professional, articulate, friendly, and punctual.

· Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional service.

· Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays).

· Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours; bend, push, pull; lift

· Proficient in computer skills including POS systems (GAAP)

· Professional appearance appropriate for a fine dining establishment.

· Maintain a clean uniform throughout shift.

· Must have exceptional grooming habits.
· Possess math skills and have the ability to handle money

· Be able to learn our menu, including food, beverage and wine; maintain a working knowledge of all changes provided by management

· Must be confident, presentable, energetic and charismatic.
