With a passion for animals and a strong interest in animal welfare the successful incumbent shall offer a calm demeanour, good interpersonal skills and resilience. Direct the organisation effectively, assume responsibility for the control and reduction of operational costs and the increase in income for continued sustainability and ensure Corporate Governance is installed.

Create and maintain an effective operational structure with supporting policies and procedures and lead and develop the team of unit managers creating a sense of trust, empowerment and sense of urgency and pride. Responsible for the marketing of this NPO, one would lead and coordinate strategic planning functions to explore and assist in setting up new opportunities to raise funds and provide better service to clients.

At least 10 years of experience - 3 should be at a senior management level - required with relevant corporate experience or a track record in the overall management of an NPO (pref. in the animal welfare sector).

With a Bachelor's degree / equivalent tertiary education in Business Admin + 5 years relevant experience one must be fluent in English (written and verbal). Afrikaans and/or Xhosa will be beneficial. Bring the following knowledge and experience to the management team:

Business and management principles and practices
Strategic planning
Human resource management principles and procedures - ability to coach, train and motivate employees and build effective teams
Marketing and fundraising skills – negotiate with various funding partners, develop funding proposals.
Accounting principles and practices
Office administrative procedures. Grant/proposal writing is a major part of this work, so strong writing and editing skills.
Ideally you bring sound knowledge of the legislative requirements of running an NPO, inter alia Funding, Leasing of property, Labour legislation and reports, Tax and Finance
