About the Position

Our client in the financial services is looking to recruit a Financial Planning Analysis Manager whose core function will be to to support the Financial Planning & Analysis function and Head Office objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

Previous experience with budgets and forecasts
CA(SA)/ CIMA
At least 5 years post qualifying experience
Previous experience with financial analysis relating to trends, variances from budgets and prior year.

Significant experience in FP&A or finance business partner role in a highly commercial and fast-paced environment
Strong integrity, critical analysis with good attention to detail
Ambition to drive change, challenge the status quo and deliver on business initiatives
Excellent team player with a positive, focused, confident and proactive attitude
Good communication skills to interface with colleagues, staff and teams (including people with non-financial background) around the Group to Board level
Attention to detail
Ability to grasp forecasting models with ease
Very strong excel skills and aptitude for understanding budgeting
High ability to pull together excel models for the business
Handles stress and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confident.
Willing to work overtime when required
Has high business acumen and will be required to assist business units on their forecasts

High ability to pull together excel models for the business
Willingness to travel throughout Africa.
Good understanding of systems used to process budget information like OneStream, Hyperion, Data warehouses or similar

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent will be required to undertake the following roles and duties:

Budget and Forecasting

Manage, prepare and give guidance on the annual Lonrho Group budgets and 3-year plan and half year re-forecast, and rolling forecast aligned with Group requirements and timescales
Provide support to the Group BU in preparing local updated budgets and re- forecasts in line with Group requirements through development of budget models, budget assumptions and budget cycle planning and timetables.
Scenario analysis (High, middle, low and change in key assumptions during the year)
Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve efficiency of financial planning process, accuracy and assumptions that underpin forecasts
Support Group CFO, Treasury and Business Development in understanding Group cash position and complete liquidity forecasts considering business funding requirements
Develop and monitor the drivers and performance indicators of the businesses with key focus being on return on capital investment i.e. RoE, RoCE, RoNA etc.
Provide insightful analysis on business performance and KPIs to facilitate senior and executive management and support informed decision making and action plans.
Identify business opportunities and risks and the likely impact on financial performance and delivery of forecasts
Lead and support ad hoc financial and business projects
Produce budget presentations underlying analysis, reports and board papers which provide summaries, financial analysis and business insight for senior managers and main Board.
Build strong working relationships with finance and non-finance stakeholders within the organisations Operations.
HQ Reporting

Supervision of Financial Accountant at HQ
Review of monthly pack for HQ
Analysis

Monitoring of actuals to budget
Monthly reports for the Finance and Operational Review Packs
Work hand in hand with Group FC and Group HQ manager in SA to forecast cash requirements for the group
Produce reports and special analysis for key business partners across the Group (COO, CFO, Divisional FDs and MDs)
Business intelligence/trend analysis across business units and group specific to
that business unit’s needs
Monitoring of new acquisitions against investment proposals (post implementation reviews)
Financial partner to Investment Team to do underlying analysis required for new investments/ sale of a business unit where applicable
Special Projects

Ad Hoc special projects for Group e.g. but not limited to
Stock management models
Banking project
Statutory financials project
Develop and maintain budget and forecasting systems/tools
Orders and delivery tracking models
Debtors monitoring and exposure models
Creditors payment/cash efficiency models
