About the Position
Financial Accountant

Santam Structured Insurance, Specialist Business is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to be based in their Sandton office.
PURPOSE
To maintain, record and report on the financial activities, which includes the budget, financial income statement and financial controls, according to IFRS, both internally and externally.
JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties will include, but not limited to:Client accounting
Prepare month end files, monthly reconciliations and management expense analysis per subsidiary
Prepare bi-annual IFRS accounts and annual financial statements of allocated subsidiary
Reporting to Financial Services Board, SARS and SARB
Monitor bank accounts and prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Ensuring that all allocated bank accounts are adequately funded
Negotiate the best fixed deposit rates
Prepare fixed asset register
Ensure adherence to IFC processes
Responsibility to ensure an electronic filing system is in place and maintained
Timely responses to email and telephonic messages
Ensure that accurate record is kept of all new matters received in the department Specific deliverables:
Financial reporting
Regulatory reporting and compliance
Cash management
Managing own area of control
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
BCom - Accounting or comparable qualification
Experience in an insurance environment recommended
