Within Consumer Banking we are seeking Communications Manager to provide support to various businesses within Retail and Business Banking.

In this role you will support the formulation of the communication strategy and the annual communication plan. You will play a key role in conceptualising; planning; implementing and monitoring communication initiatives for the Business Units, Segments, Products, and Brand Properties you are custodian of. You will execute and run targeted internal and/or external communications programmes with the objective of influencing the perceptions of stakeholders. This role works in enhancing each Business Unit’s image and reputation to further strengthen the Nedbank’s brand equity.




Job Responsibilities


Analyse and report on all aspects of communications coverage and impact by managing; co-ordinating and ensuring effective implementation of measurement and tracking tools.
Manage budgets in line with implementation plans by keeping a running budget indicating actuals vs budget to ensure effective budget management and reporting on budgetary position as per the communications plan.
Meet relevant communications guidelines to fulfil the Nedbank brand and trademark policy.
Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with essential internal and external collaborators and intermediaries in the communications value chain that enable the achievement of effective communications outcomes.
Verbal and written engagement with internal and external stakeholders that promote the brand/CVP/EVP/product/service in support of the communications; marketing and business strategies and objectives.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to promote the communications objectives and enable the Nedbank voice in the market place through relevant Nedbank spokes people. Apply knowledge and understanding of the business context to ensure credible and effective internal and external communication with stakeholders.
Develop and/or assist the development of communications strategies across the applicable/relevant spectrum of communications disciplines including: reputation management; media; public relations; internal communications; brand marketing; advertising; marketing; digital; social media and new media and production of materials to deliver on business objectives.
Apply integrated communications by using the relevant communications channels to enhance the communications mix and drive value.
Apply knowledge of the communications field; industry and trends by providing advice; inputs and recommendations on business strategies; marketing initiatives and plans and campaigns
Support the achievement of the business strategy; objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems; process; services and solutions are aligned.
Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders' businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.




Preferred Qualification


Related Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma
Further Post Graduate or Certifications studies in Social Media, Marketing, Commerce or Business Management




Minimum Experience Level


Three or more years as a communications assistant or communications co-ordinator




Type of Exposure


Experience in a communications; marketing; journalist or correspondent role
Applied knowledge of the communications mix and the appropriate/relevant application of media & channels to achieve communications & marketing goals & objectives
Experience in developing and implementing media; advocacy and marketing communication initiatives/campaigns
Experience of representing a business unit/division to the media &/or other relevant stakeholders
Writing and editing of copy; articles; press-releases; social media feeds; etc. Networking and relationship building skills
Relevant creative flair applied to written and visual concepts; both as executed by self or briefed to suppliers/partners
Working with stakeholders/groups to identify alternative solutions to a problem

Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholder
Interacting with various levels of management and staff
Communicating complex information in writing and verbally

Technical / Professional Knowledge


Communication Strategies
Writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills
Knowledge of the printing/publishing, broadcast, digital & social media industry practices & principle
Knowledge of communications strategy development & the full communications mix including new media
Ability to apply Integrated Marketing Communications by optimally applying the relevant communication
Ability to apply creative acumen to written and visual concepts
Business writing skills
Experience in developing and implementing media/ advocacy and/or communication campaigns
Ability to engage in a relevant and credible manner with internal and external stakeholders at various
Experience of representing an organisation to the internal/ external audiences
